The 1100 Series Infrared Thermometer is an accurate, reliable, and economical high temperature measurement device primarily used in the semiconductor industry. It provides a continuous, nonlinear, temperature-dependent output which can be used in conjunction with recording or controlling instrumentation.
The optical components and silicon infrared detector are housed in a rugged, die cast, gasketed enclosure, allowing operation in the most severe industrial environments.

Operation
Every object emits infrared radiation as a function of its temperature. In the 1100 Series Pyrometer, an optical system spectrally selects the radiation from the object and focuses it onto a solid-state silicon detector. The detector generates an electrical signal proportional to the radiant intensity. The resulting nonlinear signal output provides a direct input for indicating and control devices. Each module is provided with a curve relating signal level with object temperature for its temperature range. The 1100 Series Pyrometer utilizes the near end of the infrared spectrum, a narrow band centered at 0.9 micron.
Operation in this spectral region overcomes the major sources of instrument error as follows: Effects of atmospheric absorption bands such as water vapor and carbon dioxide are eliminated. Errors caused by varying target emissivity are minimized. Interference due to open clean flames is minimized. A curve relating signal level with object temperature is provided for each Calibration Module supplied.
